The Butterfly Light Award

I have been nominated for this award by my buddy Angie over at Kentucky Angel’s Train Wreck. Thank you so much and what a nice badge this one comes with!

1.    You must write an acceptance post, making sure you link back to the blogger who awarded you and thank them.  YOU MAY NOT lump this award in with other awards.

2.    You must individually name and re-award at least 1 or more blogger(s).  You must let them know either personally with a comment on their blog OR a pingback on their about page.

3.    You must link back to Belinda’s blog at

4.    You must write a short paragraph titled either “How I’m Spreading Light”  OR  “How I’m A Positive Influence”

5.  Display Belinda’s beautiful “Butterfly Light Award” badge on your blog.

I nominate Heena over at The Baking Bud for this award. She passed the Sunshine Award onto me recently so I figured I’d share the love with her! Check out her blog for lots of yummy savory and sweet recipes!

So how am I spreading light. Well I guess I’ll go back to the very namesake of this blog and say that I am encouraging people to find peace with themselves and the stress around them by cooking and baking. It is amazingly therapeutic and has brought a lot of “light” to my life. Light in the sense of clarity and in the sense of joy. It has truly helped me to find myself again when I thought I was lost. Positivism is important to me and I hope that I show that through my posts and I help to maintain it by getting my “dose” of time in the kitchen! Even if you don’t find that cooking/baking is your therapy, find something that you do for yourself and MAKE TIME FOR IT!

Sunshine Award 4/12/14

A big THANK YOU to Heena over at The Baking Bud for passing on the “Sunshine Award” to me! Head over to her site to check out some more tasty kitchen creations!  She describes this award as: The Sunshine Award recognizes bloggers whose writings “light up the dark corners of our minds”. Love it and honored to be nominated for it! She says I don’t have to do anything to accept it which is a relief for me today because I have such a busy weekend ahead of me! Thank you so much Heena, you rock!

Angel Award 4/3/14

For Blogging Excellence

This is a brand spankin’ new award from the hands and creative mind of Angie over at Kentucky Angel’s Train Wreck.  Isn’t it purdy? So this is what she has to say about it:

“I know the caption says For blogging excellence. but it’s actually for the angels in my life.  And that means all of you who read my posts.  So everyone who reads this stop by and pick one up.  No strings, no rules.  You are all my angels, and I can’t name you all.  So I will probably just stop in at every blog and let you know it’s here.  And feel free to pass it on to all your friends and followers.  You can never have enough angels in your life.”

So feel free! Grab one while they’re hot! I love all of these awards but what I love about this one is the “no strings attached” because sometimes it just takes a lot of work to accept these awards, lol. Thank you Angie!!!

Dragon’s Loyalty Award 4/3/14

Thank you to Angie over at Kentucky Angel’s Train Wreck for yet another nomination!

So, here are the rules.

1.  Display the award on your blog. Check!

2.  Announce your win with a post and thank the blogger who nominated you. Check!

3.  Present 15 deserving bloggers with the award (in no particular order):

4  Link your winners in the post and let them know of their being awarded.

5.  Tell seven interesting things about yourself.

  1. I was held back a year from starting school because I was born on the last day of November and my parents didn’t want me to be the youngest in the class!
  2. My hair became curly sometime over the last 10 years. It never used to be so curly when I was growing up but now if I let it air-dry I get nifty little ringlets that I used to try to straighten out every morning until I realized they are actually kindof nice.
  3. I have lost 3 dress/pant sizes since last June (even with all the naughty food I’ve been cooking for the blog)!
  4. I love to smell and hold books. I have my doubts about ever getting a Kindle for these reasons. I have tons of books!
  5. My mother was a professional seamstress when I was growing up and had a studio in our basement (she used to make wedding dresses and whatnot) so I learned my way around a sewing machine and serger from a young age (although it’s been awhile now, I wonder if I would be able to still do it).
  6. I have always loved fishing. My dad taught me to clean fish growing up so I am not squeamish about this, or about putting worms on the hook!
  7. I have never been West of CO, unless you count in the womb. Someday I would love to visit some west coast cities like San Francisco and Seattle.

A big THANK YOU to The Social Chameleon for nominating me for my second blogging award! Another nomination taking me by surprise and bringing a big smile to my face! I did a bit of researching online to see what this award is all about before stumbling across Sopphey Says which give a little bit of insight to it, so check this out if you are curious! Basically an award given to bloggers by other bloggers, especially to give recognition to newer blogs, and I am surely in that category still even though I feel I have come a long way since mid-July!

Here are the rules:

1. You must link the person who has nominated you.

2. You must share 11 random facts about yourself.

3. You must answer the 11 Liebster questions given to you by the nominee.

4. You  must come up with 11 questions for your nominees to answer.

5. You must go to their blogs and notify your nominees.

11 facts about myself:

  1. I enjoy the time of day when it’s just turning into evening and the shadows are getting long. For some reason this is very comforting to me.
  2. I loose my mind if I go a few days without some time to myself with the music cranked while I do some sort of baking or cooking project.
  3. I love to crochet and am contemplating projects for Xmas gifts.
  4. I wanted to be a veterinarian when I was little.
  5. I don’t allow people to wear shoes in my house unless they are slippers, lol.
  6. I can bend my thumbs down to the side to touch my arms.
  7. I love to drive and rarely let my boyfriend drive me anywhere- I want to be behind the wheel.
  8. My parents held me back a year in school (in preschool) so I wouldn’t be the youngest in my class (Nov. bday).
  9. I didn’t get a smart phone until a few months ago and now I can’t live without it, lol.
  10. I once grew tadpoles into frogs in a bucket in my garage and released them back into the creek by my house (when I was a child). I had all sorts of homemade terrariums and habitats for backyard critters, some more successful than others.
  11. To follow along those lines, I once chased a boy down the street with a toad in my hands because he was terrified of it, much to my mother’s amusement.

Answers to Social Chameleon’s Questions:

  • Where is your favorite place in the world and why? Keuka Lake and the general area of the finger lakes around it because I have so many fond memories from summers spent there as a child. I just get a sense of calm from being by the lakes and among the hills down there, especially by Keuka.
  • What do you do to calm down after a stressful day? Workout and bake.
  • Who are your role models in life? My mom and dad. Cheesy, yes, but also very true.
  • What’s your favorite movie genre? Horror
  • Is there something you can’t live without? Time to myself
  • Are you going to dress up for Halloween this year? What will you be? I don’t know yet… But usually I go as a vampire
  • What’s your favorite memory of this last month? I have to pick one?? Hmm… apple picking with my neighbor/co-worker/good-friend Karen!
  • Is there a quote or motto you live by? This too shall pass.
  • What’s your favorite color? It is currently a tie between green and purple. On a given day it will be one or the other…
  • Do you prefer to hand-write, or type? I would say I like hand-writing better but it is more practical to type in most cases. I prefer handwriting for things like notes, or anything personal.
  • What’s three things you’d want for Christmas? A new large skillet, a pressure cooker, time with my family and boyfriend.

Questions for my Nominees:

  1. Where is your favorite place to visit?
  2. What is your favorite food?
  3. What is your most amusing childhood memory?
